BYB's year-round playing and skill development opportunities are summarized below. Click season names for more information.
BYB spring programs provide playing opportunities for all baseball players living in Boorkline or attending Brookline public or private schools from first grade through age 15 regardless of skill level. Players are placed in appropriate levels by grade through grade 3 and by age and skill level beginning at 10 years old.
Two summer programs provide playing opportunities for those seeking recreational baseball and for those seeking a more competitive, travel team experience. Pickup Baseball is available to all comers. Competitive Tournament Baseball teams hold tryouts and cannot always provide playing opportunities for all players.
Fall Programs run from early September through mid October. Fall Ball is very focused on instruction and improvement at all levels, with an atmosphere that is more relaxed than our Spring or Summer programs. The commitment to practices and games is lighter too, allowing for a smooth transition back to school, and participation in other sports. With observance days off and Columbus Day, there is usually little time to make up practices or games due to rain, but we always manage to get in a lot of baseball before the kids hang up the cleats for winter.
Winter clinics are offered by At Bat for Brookline. Players in grades 4-12 receive instruction in fielding, hitting, pitching, and catching by Brookline High School and college coaches assisted by high school varsity players.
Youth Umpire Program
BYB offers children ages 12 and above opportunities to work as umpires during games in various leagues in the spring and fall seasons. We provide basic instruction and hands-on training, and youth umpires are paid for each game they officiate. For more information about this program, contact the VP of umpires at
