BYB's year-round playing and skill development opportunities are summarized below. Click season names for more information.
Who is eligible to Play?
Brookline Youth Baseball Little League provides playing opportunities for all children living in Brookline, or attending any Brookline public or private school located in Brookline, or whose parents work for the Town of Brookline. We cannot accept registrations from children who do not meet these residency requirements.
BYB Spring Baseball programs run April through June, and provide playing opportunities for children from Kindergarten through age 15. Our spring programs are matched to grade level in the early years, and then a combination of age and skill level beginning at age 10. Children 12 and under play on the small diamond, where socialization and skill development are of the greatest importance. From Instructional League to Major A, our Spring Baseball program is exciting and appropriate for kids of all playing levels. Kids age 13-15 play on the big diamond (Major League size) and focus on advanced aspects of the game.
Our Seniors League is a great place to play for those who want to maintain a recreational interest in the game. The Brookline Knights AAU Program is for highly experienced and competitive ball players.
Please see “Programs: Spring” for more details.
Travel Programs: BYB features both competitive and recreational programs for all age groups in the summer.
For 9-12 year olds: Bay State Baseball tournament runs from late June through mid-August; the Little League District and Williamsport teams play beginning in late June and running through elimination. All of these teams are by tryout only.
For 8-10 year olds with previous experience, we feature our own in-town Summer Minors program that runs from July 5 through August 9, meeting Sunday, Monday and Wednesday nights at 5:30pm for games and practices. No tryouts required but it is NOT beginning baseball.
Finally, for kids of all ages and skill levels, Summer Pick-up baseball occurs twice weekly at Lawrence Playground in July and August. There is no registration for pick-up ball, and all kids are welcome. Just show up and play.
For more information, please see “Programs: Summer”.
BYB Fall Baseball programs begin just after the start of school in September, and run through October, weather permitting. It has become a very popular program for kids from 1st grade through league age 12, and is similar to the spring programming.
Sponsored by At Bat for Brookline, the Winter Baseball Clinic takes place at Brookline High School on Saturdays, from early December through mid-February. It is open to players in grades 2-12. For more information, contact
